With the 2^nd round of the RACE Super Series now completed ProStar Motorsports reports a very strong weekend for the team and their Sturgess Cycle, SPYKE Leathers Honda race bikes. Veteran pro Frank Trombino now filling in for the injured Tremblay was one of the pace setters from early on in the weekend. “The CBR1000RR is a new bike to me and we have a number of  things to work out ……..its about getting comfortable, making the bike fit so I can get them most from it” states Trombino “the bike is very good, its small and easy to move around and the team has the chassis working really well, we have a couple of small items that we will address but the bike is fast and it will get better, our Sturgess Cycle, Acme Slate CBR600RR is working very well right now and I know we can make it perfect”. The weekend’s competition was reading like a mini national with Honda Canada’s Jodi Christie, the Fast.Co Hondas of Jordan Szoke, Team BMW Motorrad’s factory riders and Nelson Racing with their new BMW 1000 all in attendance it was promising to be a very interesting weekend.

“We have the back straight away this weekend ……… it’s the Long track you can see who has what from the pits” commented ProStar’s Ben Gartner “it seems like there’s a few people that have a lot this year, there is a bunch of sport bikes that are WAY faster than I would have expected them to be, there is some seriously fast bikes out there right now”. The 600 sport bike race was a barn burner with 5 bikes all running together for the first half of the race, Szoke, Christie, Trombino, Kenny Riedmann and past champion Karl Daigle all made a break for the front. But again Christie and his CBR600RR Honda was the bike to beat “their bikes are fast, we are right there but ……… we need to catch up, but it was a great day for us, Honda and the CBR600RR with the top 3 finishers all on that bike, we will take the third place and be happy” commented Trombino.

The superbike race was shaping up to be a wild one, Francis Martin and his BMW 1000 was fast from the get go, Nelson was on his new BMW, Trombino was working the Sturgess Cycle CBR1000RR as hard as possible to keep it at the front of the Superbike grid as was Szoke and his team. “I’m really happy with Frank’s performance on our bike today, we really have not been able to just focus on one bike and go forward developing it, I know its a broken record but we still have not caught up……….. but it is coming, our bikes are close” continued Gartner “Frank ran his best lap ever around this place and led most of the race pulling away, the bike rider combination looked great, Francis set a new lap record and Nelson was getting his new Beemer sorted out ……… but that kid on his Honda [referring to Jodi Christie on his Honda Canada CBR600RR he’s just on fire right now. Frank was gone, I was going over to ask Chris for the check ……… it was a super impressive ride, Jodi caught us, past us and moved on for the win, looks like the future of this sport is here and it lives in Keene Ontario” Trombino finished the day with a second place in the RACE Pro Superbike event making the teams weekend very respectable with 2 good podium finishes.
